A Part Of
mountains have moved
upon the wind’s desire
haunting the corridors
of man’s blemished fears,
to offer the solace
of their quiet strength.
trees have built fanned walkways
upon the sea’s quiet kiss,
shaking off
the sins of man,
bestowing
their life
by rigors of will
like droplets in a stream.
rain has curved its slant
around glistening edifices
erected
in the face of man’s terror of nature’s way.
we have lost our way
have forgotten that we too
are animals
a part of nature’s array
and are called to live
within
her way
not outside it.
so it is
that we must meet
mountains where they lie
trees where they root
and the rain in its defiance—
a part of
not apart from.
